Validity

This Statement of Work is an agreement between the Customer to purchase and Truly Intelligent Business to supply the Services as set out in this Statement of Work. This Statement of Work incorporates all of the clauses and definitions contained in Truly Intelligent Business's Terms and Conditions of Business, as amended or supplemented from time to time. Except as otherwise expressly specified in this Statement of Work, the defined terms used in this Statement of Work shall have the same meanings as the defined terms in Truly Intelligent Business's Terms and Conditions of Business. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity between those Terms and Conditions of Business and this Statement of Work, the provisions in this Statement of Work shall prevail.

This Statement of Work is valid from 28th November 2022 to 13th January 2023 unless terminated earlier in accordance with the terms set out in this Statement of Work.


Background

The Economist has embarked on a data transformation journey for the past two years and has delivered value to the business to make data driven decisions. This statement of work focuses on assessing the The Economist's current data capability maturity. The Supplier had conducted a data capability assessment in Nov 2020 and outcomes were shared with the The Economist then. The Economist wishes to conduct a similar assessment and compare the outcomes with the previous assessment

 

Objectives

This Statement of Work is aligned to the following objectives of the Customer:

  1. Measuring the current strength of the organisation's data capabilities.
  2. Specifying the target strength of the organisation's data capabilities as required to enable achievement of the organisation's goals.
  3. Measuring the current maturity of the organisation's data capabilities as defined by the difference between current and target data capability strength.
  4. Analysing and comparing current data capability maturity with that previously measured in former analysis.
  5. Identify the root causes behind gaps in data capability maturity and define actions appropriate to closing those gaps.
  6. Prioritise actions to close data capability maturity gaps and visualise those actions on a roadmap.


Engagement Scope

Truly Intelligent Business will supply the Customer with the following Services and Deliverables:

Services

  1. Tailoring online data capability maturity assessment tools to align with customers specific requirements and situation.
  2. Consulting with and gathering input from relevant stakeholders and participants.
  3. Analysing and presenting the data generated by online data capability maturity assessment tools.
  4. Guiding stakeholder interpretation of the data capability maturity analysis.
  5. Recommending and prioritising actions that could be effective in closing gaps in data capability maturity.
  6. Unlimited access to the online data capability maturity assessment tools during the period for which this Statement of Work is valid.
  7. Basic support and maintenance of the online data capability maturity assessment tools.

Deliverables

  1. Comparison of the previous vs. current data capability maturity.
  2. Highlighting of areas of progress and areas where progress is most needed.
  3. Online data capability maturity assessment tools.
  4. Data capability maturity analysis, presentation materials and source data.

Assumptions

  • The availability and performance of the online data capability maturity assessment tools are not guaranteed; however, the supplier will take all reasonable steps to ensure continuous and uninterrupted access to the online data capability maturity assessment tools during the period for which this Statement of Work is valid.

 

Change Management and Governance

It may become necessary to amend this Statement of Work for reasons including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Revision of the engagement scope. Truly Intelligent Business will assess the Customer's request for such revisions and evaluate the impact on overall schedule and costs.
  2. Changes in the working environment. This includes, but not limited to, changes in the data migration approach concerning processes, legal entities and source systems
  3. Unavailability of access to systems, required resources or subject matter experts.
  4. Significant delays arising through factors beyond the engagement scope.

In the event where it is necessary to amend this Statement of Work, Truly Intelligent Business or the Customer will communicate a change request. Any change request will be analysed by both parties, the change impacts will be discussed and the change request will be approved or rejected with agreement of both parties. When a change has is approved, an addendum to this Statement of Work will be created.


Location

Activities to provide the Services may be performed at any of the following locations, in accordance with prevailing COVID-19 safe working practices.

  • Supplier offices in UK and working from home.
  • Customer offices in the UK.
  • The Economist offices in the UK.

Truly Intelligent Business operates a flexible working policy, which allows our consultants to operate from the best locations for them to deliver the best results for our clients, whilst also minimising the costs and environmental impacts of unnecessary travel. Work may therefore take place at other locations with prior approval of the Customer.

 

Pricing and Notices


Fees

This statement of work is costed on a time and materials or fixed price basis. The fees applicable to provision of the engagement scope are:

Invoicing

Truly Intelligent Business will submit invoices to the Customer in advance.

Payment Terms

  1. Fees are excluding VAT and other applicable taxes.
  2. Costs for infrastructure and software or hardware licensing are not included in the fees.
  3. Travel and additional expenses will be invoiced at cost in accordance with the Customer's travel policy.

Termination

  1. Either party may terminate this Statement of Work with a minimum notice period of 20 business days.
  2. In the event of Statement of Work termination, the Customer is liable to pay the fees as described within this Statement of Work for Services that have been completed, in addition to the fees for agreed services occurring within the 20 working days termination notice period.
